REVISITED AND COMPARED WITH A LATENT TRAIT APPROACH Wim

چکیده
Macready and Dayton (1977) introduced two probabilistic models for mastery assessment based on an idealistic allor-none conception of mastery. Although these models are in statistical respects complete, the question is whether they are a plausible rendering of what happens when an examinee responds to an item. First, a correction is proposed that takes account of the fact that a master who is not able to produce the right answer to an item may guess. The meaning of this correction and its consequences for estimating the model parameters are discussed. Second, Macready and Dayton's latent class models are confronted with the three-parameter logistic model extended with the conception of mastery as a region on a latent variable. It appears that from a latent trait theoretic point of view, the Macready and Dayton models assume item characteristic curves that have the unrealistic form of a step function This content downloaded from 130.89.45.231 on Tue, 22 Dec 2015 15:07:23 UTC All use subject to JSTOR Terms and Conditions

Mechanism Discrimination for Bimolecular Reactions: Revisited with a Practical Hydrogenation Case Study
The governing mechanism of surface reactions is a fundamental concern in heterogeneous catalysis. The Langmuir–Hinshelwood (LH) mechanism is widely accepted to control the surface reactions in many catalytic systems. This contribution derives and compares several important surface rate equations to evaluate their quality of fitting to the experimental data collected for a vapor-phase hydrogenat...
متن کاملEffect of abnormal screening mammogram on quality of life.
BACKGROUND Screening for breast cancer reduces breast cancer-related mortality. Advantages of screening are explained clearly, but its disadvantages are underrepresented in consent folders. METHODS In September 2002 a prospective, longitudinal study started concerning quality of life (QoL) in women with breast disease. Between September 2002 and January 2007, 385 women with an abnormal screen...
متن کاملComparision of Methods for Determining Bearing Capacity of Piles Using Standard Penetration Test (SPT) Data
In recent years, determining bearing capacity of piles from in-situ testing data as a complement to static and dynamic analysis has been used by geotechnical engineers. In this paper, different approaches for estimating bearing capacity of piles from SPT data are studied and compared. A new method based on N value from SPT is presented. Data averaging,
failure zone and plunging failure of p...
متن کامل(Non)native Language Teachers’ Cognitions: Are They Dichotomous?
In view of native/nonnative language teacher dichotomy, different characteristics have been assigned to these 2 groups. The dichotomy has been the source of different actions and measures to clarify the positive and negative points of being (non)native teachers. In recent years, many researchers have revisited this dichotomy. The challenge to the dichotomy can be a source of motivation to explo...
متن کاملVideo Steganography Using LSB Matching Revisited Algorithm
Video Steganography deals with hiding secret data or information within a video. In this paper, a spatial domain technique for LSB Matching Revisited algorithm (LSBMR) has been proposed, where the secret information is embedded in the cover frames. LSB Matching Revisited(LSBMR) algorithm selects the embedding regions according to the size of secret message and the difference between two consecu...
